Hi Guys (^_^)/
Thanks for approval
I'm from state Styria which is Austria and i am an mechanical engineer with a masters certificat in it but working currently in the chemical industry. I'm a silent reader for a few months but now i thought i want to join the comunity.
I always wanted a humvee to since childhood, i had never seen one in real before but were always like mesmerized when i saw one. With getting older i also started to like the technical part, which is simple and can be done by anyone despite its little flaws.
Then in june i got myself one, freshly importet from the states, from fort liberty NC, its an M998 which were build in 86.
Allegedly it came two years ago back from irak, were dearmored and got an new engine, transmission and transfercase. They had it for about 1 year driving in NC. From my standpoint i think its plausible. Its green now but i a lot of places you can find small spots of the desert camo and found quite a lot of sand in the tailgate. Also the engine, transmission and transferecase look pretty good, not new but good. At the moment its has the 6.5 with 3 speed transmission and the NP242 transfere case. When they swaped the engine they reseted the mileage, when i bought it it had 1441 miles on it, now it has about 2150. Its my daily driver at the moment. Original it had all soft top and door. When i bought it it had soft doors, no back wall and hard steel top without the sandwich plates cause they are classified as armor here and are not allowed.
Overall in good shape with a quite some work and a few loose screws like myself
The original pcb were a nartron eess which were not working properly because it gave constant 24v to the glow plugs when i turned the ignition key. Because of that the glowplugs were all dead
I have done a lot of work till now but she's quite the looker now but still have some work to do. I'm also looking now how to remove this stupid ignition switch and which cabels are supposed to be together. If you guys want to know more feel free to ask. The pics show how it looked when i bought it and now.
Best wishes from the Alps
