Thanks for the Complement Red.

No Im not a Nam Vet, I am a proud lifer Army Brat of 20 years. My Dad was a career Officer "52-76 (A Doc) who gave me the finest upbringing a kid could possibly ask for. Growing up on Army installations around the Country and in Europe during the War was irreplaceable education I wouldn't trade for the world. My dad made sure I always attended the Armed Forces Day exhibits held every year at the various Post we lived. I would spend all day there taking in all the latest and greatest produced for the war in Southeast Asia.
My Dad instilled in me a great respect for the guys in uniform serving our country. It is a life long connection Ive not let go of. I feel a kinship, like distant family to the Nam Vets as these were the guys I grew up around.
Thanks for you service Red, over here and especially over there.

I would not say ive made most of the gatherings but I have been to 3 of em and its nice to say I was at the first. There was also those 4 days in Vegas for the ATAV reunion in 2000. Been at it a long time. You should go down and rattle crowbars cage! Its been a few weeks since ive done it over the phone so im due! :)

Here are some from the Temple (Texas) airshow last weekend. We were supporting their Vietnam part of the show, doing a downed pilot rescue scenario.
Unlikely choice of vehicles for that particular job, maybe we can say the pilot came down near a highway. The crowd loved it, and that was the point, so....
Note our Aussie Ferret participating.

Pic 3 looks pretty accurate to me!

Cheers

me too!! The best one I've been too. Got to finally ride with edd in angel. I only went once and rode up front with him so we could chat. Not to mention the box was pretty full. Still got my engine panel that everyone signed and I look at it fondly. You know I still have not been in the box yet of one. I better get mine done soon :)

Nossir, I moved to the US when I was 14 in 1974, joined the Marines in 1978, earned my US citizenship (and fiercely proud of it!). Both my sons are currently serving in the Marines.

My V100 is a Vietnam Vet though, documented as serving with the 720th MP out of Long Binh in 1968/69. It also served with the Marines in the late 70's, one of 12 used to guard the Navy's "Strategic National Assets".

My place is in the 'boonies' just outside Austin. Last July I hosted Baseballump/Louie and some of his Vietnam buddies from the 630th MP down to play with the V. They drove it around the farm til it broke (threw the alternator belt, which ripped part of the wiring harness out. ). They had a good time though, and told me more about V100's in one afternoon than I had learned in 20 years of research. Great bunch of guys.

In some pictures Quonsethut posted of his guntruck, you can see my V100 as well. Those were taken during the dedication/groundbreaking of the Texas Vietnam Veterans Memorial. That was a great day, and it was an honour to be invited to participate.

Cheers

You must be referring to the O-2! :)
One not so good pic. She was our FAC during the show, a really good pilot. I have some better shots of her plane from last year.

Cheers

PS - that picture got really shrunken down when uploaded, I'll see if I can make it smaller myself and repost it.
PPS - nope, it just doesn't shrink down well, loses a lot of detail.

Yep Karen is top notch. Loves the history of the FAC. Raven was the call sign of the all black night interdiction air controllers. Your regular grey ones was Nail. There are a couple of great books out there on these pilots and I highly recommend.
