New soft top missing hardware

I bought a new soft top on ebay and it does not have the plastic clip along the front edge nor the inserts for the side locks. Are these parts available anywhere?

Hmm, just re-read the auction and found this: "tops were made in 2005 in vinyle, and rope slides not the plastic slides that breaks"

I didn't see any "rope slide" just the fabric of the top itself but I will check again on Saturday (it's at my office).

If it is the rope slide/type it will have a small diameter rope sewn into the front edge, you have to feed it through the channel on top of the windshield, a real PIA but lasts longer and stays better when you get it in there.

Same thing for the side / window slides?

To help it slide through the channel make sure the channel is clean. Also, find a small brush and brush vasoline in the channel the best you can. Then put vasoline along the rope section of the top to aid in it sliding in the channel. Good luck !

This technique has been very helpful installing tops and new glass in military windshield assemblies.

What might work better than Vaseline is to use silicone spray that they use for camper slide-outs. You can even use food grade silicone spray.

JCKnife, boy I'm glad you put a pic up yesterday I recived one of three I ordered all from different people ( 2 camo, 1 tan ). I was kinda worried when the box came it was smaller than the camo ones and when I opened it 2005 top it was the same as yours. I bet we ordered from the same person out in CA ?" I hope it works better ?

Yep that's where mine came from. Got a tan cargo cover too, still in the box.

Thats how the old canvas ones were made. Since everyone complains about the stitching failing on the plastic channels sewn on, maybe this is a good thing!
