new style light switch

Has anybody had to replace the diaode, I think in a new style switch, my brother Oldgrunt and I crossed some wires while on a recovery to Kentucky to pick up his new truck. We put in a old style switch and got our lights back, so must have done some damage to the switch.

Yes, 99 % of the time, when they go out, they are toast. Some of them have been known to blow the face plate off!
