New t-case shifter

I finally finished a project that was on my to do list. A few hours, some scrap steel, and a welder I made a new transfer case shift lever. I did not want to cut or bend the original one in case I want to return the truck to stock. Now it is in easy reach when I am driving. I don’t even have to lean forward to shift from low range to high range. When the lever is in high range it sits right by my leg. The shift knob is temporary until I get a military one but the whole assembly makes the truck more comfortable to drive.

That's pretty slick! Does the xtra weight and leverage of the longer arm make the lever fall into the neutral position when you drive on rough terrain?

Thanks for the comments. With the stock shifter I can almost hit the horn with my nose when I shift from low to high. The new shifter weighs quite a bit less than the original cast one. I used 1/4 inch x 1-1/2 inch plate and some 3/4 inch tubing. When the t-case is in high range part of the lever is to the rear of the pivot point so it almost balanced front to rear. I adjusted the shape of the shifter about a dozen times until I got it in the exact spot I wanted. I must have installed/un-installed that thing about a hundred times. I was also concerned about it dropping into neutral. Off road I usually have it in low range so that’s no big deal. I was more concerned about hitting a bump on the highway at 55MPH and then the t-case goes into neutral, that’s why I spent so much time getting the shape just right. It may have taken me a little more time but I don’t have to worry about the t-case shifting it self.
