Looks like they made the air cooled engine in v8, v12, and maybe v10. Surest way to tell would be to stick your head up in the wheel well and count. Looks rough, and I would think finding parts would be though in the US, maybe some of the European members have some ideas? If engine is too bad, may be a transplant candidate. Expensive, but cool truck to save!

I looked at the glass and figured that's still pretty good so I support a complete rebuild. 28,000 kg is a much smaller number than 61,729 pounds but who doesn't like a big truck? Did a quick sweep for parts and although one site claims North America support for Tatra, support and service is everywhere but here https://www.tatratrucks.com/your-tatra-partner/dealer-and-service-network/

This link was pretty cool from 2011 so maybe a person can have a big truck and still get lucky. https://www.steelsoldiers.com/threads/usa-tatra-parts-what-do-you-need.74216/

There are a few other links using a "tatra parts usa" search so the possibilities are there. I'm guessing the next thing is a 'check list' to see if it's worthy of a "needs list" to get it driving and a 'wish list' to make it what you want. Welcome to the adventure!!!!

This is what one looks and sounds like just before you take it fishing.

I appreciate the links! Cab is shot. Passenger door shot. Fan shroud shot. Clutch seized.

But I gave her 24v and things did start turning on so that's a good sign

@m1010plowboy several good years ago I recall running into a website that had toronto-warehoused tatra cars (including that 'strange' 97 ones sitting next to his 613's!) for sale but otherwise I'm not sure where he might be anymore lately or that I haven't ever seen much mention of tatra trucks in general in north america either

still wonder where the bull-nosed air cooled mercedes trucks are equally as well (I guess you can tell that tatra and mercedes interests me due to my aircooling-engines curiousity so mm yeah)
