Hi all, This is my first post so hopefully it isn't completely redundant, but I haven't been able to find help in any of the past posts.

Anyways, I just picked up my first duece here from Camp Beauregard in Louisiana. GL didn't give me any info on year or make. I'm trying to figure out what to put on the GL SF97 application but I'm at a loss for year and make. The serial number is: 04M87769032525201. The contract number is from 68. Any suggestions?? Should I just guess?? Do they ever reject SF97 applications for wrong information.

Thanks for any help anyone can provide--I really appreciate everyone's wisdom on the site--it's been invaluable to me as a beginner.

Donnie,
As Kenny said, your truck is a 1969 Kaiser-Jeep. The manufacturer's serial number is 032525201 - and it is stamped in the frame rail. The 04M87769 is the army registration number, and is NOT stamped on the frame rail, but rather was painted on the truck, and sometimes stamped in the data plate.

Enjoy your new ride - and this site!

Regards,
David Doyle

The serial number should be on the frame rail, drivers side, behind front tire. The serial number should also be on the data plate on the dash (if the numbers don't match use the frame number). The registration number should also be on the dash plate and most of the times painted on the inside of the doors.

On some of the older trucks the number is stamped into the passenger's side frame rail, same general area.

Your truck is a 1972 M109A3. Carnac or DDoyle could tell you more.

Cam,
Your truck is definately a 1969.

Best wishes,

Thanks DDoyle. After sitting and being curious, I read more posts. I saw where to find other dates. I went to dad's and crawled up under the M35. I found that my axles were 7/69 so I figured it must be a 69 or 70. Thanks again. Cam

David, how can a 1969 truck have a "NK" number. I know the S/N indicates a 1969 but I thought the "NK" reg. numbers didn't come about untill 1972. If that's the case that's not the reg. number the truck came from the factory with. I'm not questioning what you said. I'm just trying to understand.
