Newbie Tire Question on 11:00-20

Im new to the duece and have a tire question. The duece I purchased is running on ( new ) single 11:00-20. What I would like to do is run either duel 11:00-20 or go to the Michelin 395 85 R20. What would you all do ??? I like the look of both , more so the Michelins. And If I run the Michelins can I use the same rim or do I need different rims ? I know the cost of adding four new 11:00-20 , how much would it be for seven 395/85/20 ? And if I do go with the Michelins what do I do with the six new 11:00-20 I already have ? All I use the Duece for is for up coming car shows and parades. Thanks Guys

If you go with the 395 85 R 20's then you can sell the 6 1100 R20's !! It does not matter what others think !! It is your truck and do with it what you want !! Welcome aboard !!

My truck has the michellin 11x20's singled and I really like them. That is the way it was when it came from the National Guard. There is no real reason to add back the duals on the rear. There is less drag, it turns well and the hauling capicity is still really good. If anything I would leave it alone or go to the 395's. There is no reason to spend the money to buy 4 additional rear tires.

We have the deul 11.00x20's on ours. I think it looks a lot better than the singled setup. However, it's just my opinion. I do like the singles when you go to the bigger tires, like the ones on my M816.

the 46" super singles will give you a little bit more speed too, the cheapest I've seen them though will be around$150 each plus shipping (unless you really hunt) and you should get a different rim. Most get a modified hemtt wheel as that is the cheapest. There are lots of guys on here that sell them, if you get them from one guy he even has the tires, but you'll have $4000 invested.

I got my 46" tires off of craigslist and my modified hemtt wheels from 13Mike, all local transactions...so no shipping.

With that being said I really like the look of dueled 11.00r20's...or another option which is really cool is 14.5's up front and dueled 11r20's on the rear in the Michelin XL tread pattern.

Are you planning to flat tow or trailer anything heavy? I loved how solid the truck felt on 9.00-20 duals pulling and flat towing. I put on XL 11.00-20's and now it is not near as stable to flat tow other M35's or a loaded trailer. That is the only draw back I have found with singles.

Now, empty or just running by itself. The singles are much better all around in my opinion.

Thanks guys for all the great advice, I think on this truck Im going to go duels with the 11:00-20. When and if I get another deuce Ill try the 395. Thanks ODdave, maybe this spring Ill take you up on that offer, good to know your allso a diesel mechanic.
