"newer" or "civi" glow plug controler...?

I found this post on another forum while looking for a different issue. I have searched hear with several different searches, and could not find a user here by this name "85-1028" Does anyone know about using a new or civi card and just doing a little rewiring? In some of my searching on this here, I read the civi 6.2s didnt have a controler circuit, so I am confused. The link it refers to comes back as server not found.

If your going to use use the newer style controller then you need to make a custom wire harness to integrate it. Not all that compicated..

The controller for the cucv is military specific, I decided to use the civy controller for parts availabilty.. You have to track down the harness that plugs onto the civy controller. I would go to the dealership parts dept to make sure you get the right one..

In order to convert the CUCV GP system to the civvy controller, it will take some effort. And I would ask why?

Now on the civvy trucks, the 1982-1984 GM diesels used a round style controller. They where prone to failure. The The 1985-2000ish controllers where more reliable and have the relay built in.. You can convert the early controllers to the new style with a little wiring. K9VIC did this with his M1007 Suburban clone.



Now the funny thing of it is that the HMMWVs use the round style controllers.

My latest CUCV from the GSA side, has that unit on the right installed (Warthog's pic). I did pick up a card slot thingy so if the installed unit fails, I will go back stock. Funny though, I struggle to see where this unit was an add on, looks factory.
