Well I spoke with Mike Pop about another trail ride this year and he said start the thread. So here is a chance to get a little dirty. :-D

We are going to be switching it up and starting a little further North. The starting point is going to be the dirt parking lot on Rt 539 in Lacey Twp. North of Rt72 and just north of the fire tower. Google Maps

1) Start time will be 0900hrs on Saturday 11/28/09. Hit the trails around 1000hrs
2)We are going to limit it to the 15 vehicles.
3)Open to Military or 4x4 Civilian vehicles.

I can be there in my H2. Not sure I want to bring the Deuce from PA. I will see if my son has any interest in bringing Deuces.

Risky taking a large number of slow vehicles into the Barrens isn't it? My cousin and I have been fined for running trails off of Lacey road in the Bamber lake area.

greenjeepster,

We always stick to the public roads in the Pines and never get hassled. The trails off Lacey Road are on private property and the rangers will issue summonses. As far as slow vehicles, that's never been an issue.

We are very careful about private property. We got stopped on the way up to "forked River Mountain", that is a public road. It has been probably 6 years now, but at that time we were told that unless it was a Forest Service Road it was off limits to all motor vehicles. The forest service roads you could drive a Ford Escort down, not much fun in that:wink:

It is the same deal here, no motor vehicles on any of the Daniel Boone National Forest roads; most of them here are gated though so it is pretty easy to tell what you are allowed to drive on and not.

Bruce,

It's not that organized. There isn't a registration or spaces. It's just that last time we did this, we had over thirty vehicles and it was too much for the trails. It made the whole event slow and we couldn't cover much ground. If you want to come up with your M151 or deuce, you are more than welcome to!

I was asked for an address for anyone using a GPS Unit. The closest address that I could find is 672 Route 72 Barnegat, NJ 08005. This is near Rt 72/Rt 539. You will then proceed North on RT 539 about 6 miles and the lot will be on the left. Hope this helps with your navigation.

We've got a good group of vehicles: Unimogs, Jeeps, CUCV's, Deuces, civvy trucks, and possibly...just possibly...a halftrack!
