No start, please help

Help please!
84 m1028. Truck sat for 2 days, went to start it and didn't set the fast idle and the truck shut back down. Starter made a noise so I checked it after the engine shut down and had to put another bolt in. Tried to start the truck and it'll crank but not start. Getting fuel pressure in and out of the filter, getting small spurts at the injectors, pulled top of pump and its full and verified function of the shut off solenoid and the advance. Engine will start with fuel dumped in the intake but the truck won't start on its own. I'm out of solutions.

Maybe you got a bad load of fuel with water in it??

I always go here but anyway here I go again. What do you know about the injection pump and lift pump? The injection pump may need overhauled. That is a cure all for fuel relate issues. If you didn't replace it and don't know when it was replaced it may me time to think about in and get that in the rearview mirror.

Did you verify that the glow plug system was functioning properly?

Are you getting any smoke while cranking?

Check the metering valve under the injection pump cover. With cover off, simulate the action of the engine kill solenoid, looking at the metering valve. It should rotate slightly when you release.
