I believe injector timing is different; there are folks here that know specifics. I also believe these timing numbers are in the engine TM.

There was an article in MV Magazine a couple of years ago detailing this exact project. It mentioned re timing the pump. But if you search this board there are a few guys that say you don't have to so I guess the message is do your own research and decide.

Read up on re-timing the pump, the specs should be in the engine rebuilding TM.
Diesel's are known for large improvements on very little modifications.
I was surprised to learn that the same 4,000 hp prime mover (Detroit 20V710) out of a locomotive can be tweaked to give out around three times as much power for use as surface propulsion in attack subs.

Another consideration is adding an inner-cooler (charge air cooler) to get the most out of your swap.
