Hello. I've been a member for almost 4 years but have just started restoring my 1953 M37 with my 14 year old son. In the process of verifying the glove box VIN tag, I found the VIN stamped onto the front driver's side frame. I also found two other stamped sets of numbers on the driver's side of the frame under the cab. I searched the forum but didn't find out what these numbers are. Could one of them be the registration number? Any information would be greatly appreciated.FullSizeRender.jpg

"1268107" is the Chrysler part no. for the M37 / M42 frame assembly.

"1268109" is the Chrysler part no. for the M37 / M42 left frame rail.

The "MC" stamping is probably the supplier mark, which was Midland Steel Products Corp. Midland Steel had plants in Cleveland and Detroit (the former Detroit Pressed Steel Co., across from the old Dodge Main plant), which made jeep and truck frames, among other parts. Chrysler was one of, if not their biggest, customers.

The ORD 9 SNL G-741 lists "MID - Midland Steel Products Corp." as the supplier of the frame assembly.

If you look around, you'll find part nos. and the "MC" mark on other frame pieces, such as some of the crossmembers.
