Most mulitfuels smoke, some quite a lot. Especially the 5 tons with the 185 HP engine.

Was the mushroom cap off, I don't understand how she got in there.

It is a multi fuel, just has the short 90 elbow off the large canister.

When I first got my 5 ton in 2016, I found a large mouse nest, and 2 dead mice in the air filter. The screen on the mushroom cap was damaged.

I found where mice got into my intake thru the fender well & ate my air filter. The wire in it stopped them from getting into the engine. I put expanded mesh over the intake hole to keep them out & they have not chewed thru that yet. Not the Deuces or the LMTV, but the Toyota Tacoma..
