Manhattan by MV (pics)

Hi,

As stated the weather was nice. Great day and oppurtunity to thank those who served. (It should be every day.) Lex_Ordo, MACSOG (photographer of the day), my brother and I met two blocks down from where the main MV gathering is to help support the folks of Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America. We transported those who couldn't march and their families down the parade route. They appreciated the support and we were glad to help. Active duty soldiers and Vietnam Vets also appreciated seeing the older dueces and sharing their experiences.

Coming in and out we took the 59th St. Bridge (no toll) and it worked out great. After the parade we went uptown and came back down the West Side Highway to the Intrepid Air Sea Museum where the newly commisioned USS New York was stationed. We could only park for a short period as parking is at a premium over there. Public visitation of the NY ended at 2pm so we couldn't visit it anyway but we did manage to snap a few pics.

It was fun driving around Manhattan (we forgot to go to Times Square.) Lots of shifting yesterday!!

On a lighter note our meeting place was also the location of the new Museum of Sex. :p Lots of fun facts about sex were displayed on the building and windows for all to read. :-D Along the parade route the usual eccentric charachters were present: a gentleman in a full Frogman regalia! Flagman etc. etc.

Back on the Island we cooked a variety of wursts and bier etc. etc. Enjoy the pics!! more to be uploaded.

It really was great day! Looking forward to next year. It would be nice to have a lot more vehicles.
For ayone reading and thinking 'OMG driving in NYC!' Well don't get scared. It really isn't a big deal at all.

We mangaed to traverse midtown, the west side, the east side, and across town with three big trucks, and no escort needed. So for all you guys with jeeps, cucv's, dueces, 5 tons, etc, come on down!
