oil cooler lines

I sure hope i'm doing this right. Okay, here I go. Hi friends! My name's Heather and I'm Justin's wife, the handsome fella who's profile I'm using. Here's my question. Our m1009 CUCV, D10 6.2L diesel is in the shop and I'm searching for a part it needs. I'm looking for 2 metal oil cooler lines #14061344 AND #14061345. Are there any variances in the parts in comparison with those that would be used in a civilian vehicle?

No there the same. Napa, autozone.. whoever you want to deal with can get them.

If it is a 84 or 85, I believe those are under a recall that is still in effect.

The rubber hoses are under recall, You can get Dorman replacements at autozone.

As far as I know the metal lines that go across the radiator are discontinued from the dealer but you may be able to find them at RockAuto, GMPartsDirect, etc

They are the same a the mid 80s Suburban, pickups, etc with the diesel engine

I just googled the part number and this dealer still list them

Our truck is an 86 and the rubber hoses got replaced already. The problem now is the metal lines that go across the radiator, one is worn from friction against a part of the fan enclosure... Oil everywhere



I told my wife over the phone while I was at work she could look on Steel Soldiers and/or post...
Its rad to see the comments above my surprise icons!
Thanks a bunch guys, we need the lines to get the truck free from the shop, any and all leads are welcome.

I may be nuts but I want to say I remember that the CUCV lines go straight across the front of the radiatior (front bumper side) with no bends or rises.

The hardest thing is ordering replacements and not knowing if the fit will be correct. Function is the only animal here I am concerned with; cost is a pickle regardless so the right part is the goal and hopefully at a honest price.

The oil lines on a stock CUCV are behind the radiator, in between the radiator and the fan shroud. They have a few curves in them.

The part number listed in the parts manual is the same as the ones listed on the above webpage.

They should work fine.

Being new you wouldn't know about the oil line recall on certain trucks.

But since you do now you should do an advanced search in the CUCV forum for "recall oil line" and you would find this thread:

I'm in the process of replacing the oil lines on my 2 cucvs with rubber hyd. lines from the block, all the way to the radiator. (actually I have a aluminun stacked stand-alone oil cooler off of a big ford truck that I'm putting in front of the radiator) (I need one more) so I will have a couple of complete sets available soon. I don't care much for the cheasy looking aluminum lines. It seems like a failure would pump every drop of oil out of your motor in nothing flat. (you need that oil to keep all those little parts sliding off each other) John

I called my local dealer about the oil cooler line recall. I gave them the recall number posted in another thread. They said that recall was for a Buick such and such, bla bla bla. They also said that the rubber oil cooler lines were discontinued and no longer available from GM so the recall is a mute point. I was bummed for sure. So much for free oil cooler lines. One of mine is leaking so I guess I'll get them from Advance. They are about $40 each.

I will hunt some more but any Steel Soldiers want to sell me a set? Anyone in GA have a scrap rig I can pull from?

Ziggy, NJ shipping costs put me over budget but not out of mind. I was waiting on some pictures (to help verify fit) but WARTHOGs links from earlier are first try in process now. Cost is why at about 100 shipped but until they arrive I can't rule out other options.

Also I am sure that I can't be the only CUCV owner needing these rare parts so just having this thread up can help out others.

According to the TM parts manual, all versions of the CUCVs came from the factory with the cooler lines.

Yours may have been removed because they where leaking and the PO didn't want to find a replacement.
