Oops, water down intake?

I'm in the process of putting on a new IP. I removed the intake manifold and stuffed the holes with some rags to keep crap from going in there. I didn't think about the actual bolt holes though, and washed out all the crap that has accumulated in the engine valley. I noticed that most of the bolt holes had a little water in them that I was able to blow out with the air compressor. I did notice that one, maybe two of bolt holes did not hold water. Apparently the holes go down into the top of motor. Any idea if that little bit of water going down into the bolt holes is bad?

It all depends on how much you think a "little bit" is? A "little bit" can hydro lock and bend a rod real easy.

Could he pull the glowplugs out and crank the engine over and see if it becomes a squirt gun? With luck it ran down into the pan and only an oil change is needed.

I really don't know how much water went down the bolt hole, I'm just thinking that it couldn't have been a lot. I plan onpulling the glow plugs and turning over the engine, my only problem is everything all taken apart in preparation for the new IP. The new IP won't be here until Thursday , so I don't think I can turn the motor over until then.

I don't think any of the bolt holes that are for the intake manifold would do anything but eventually drain to the oil pan, so if you drain the oil and add new oil before you start it, you should be fine. Now if any water got into the intake passages and the valve was open then you may have water there, but if you were careful, I think it should be OK.

If they drain, it is to the crankcase. No way they seal the combustion chamber, they would be loaded with carbon.
