The time has come, as it does for everyone who owns WWII armor, to consider the next owner/operator/shooter of the hardware. Up for grabs in the spring/summer/fall of this year is my M18 Hellcat tank destroyer. If I don’t arrange a private sale in discussions with interested parties over the next 5-6 months, it will end up on Bring-A-Trailer auction site with a reserve appropriate for what it is. One of the reasons for this approach is I would like to see that it ends up in a ‘shooter’s’ hands and that the new owner continues shooting the main live, 76mm M1A1C, gun in the tank. I have posted a number of video links to the shooting done with this specific M18 in the line at the Big Sandy and elsewhere.
Therefore, I am proposing to educate the new owner on loading and shooting the main gun with a final trip to the Big Sandy (or???) to shoot and do loading instructions. This may morph into a private shoot somewhere in the NM, Colorado, Northern AZ (or ???) area if Big Sandy is a bust for cannon shooters as is being discussed. I will provide much material for shooting including projectiles, shell casing propellant and primers, shell boxes, etc.
This M18 is completely restored with all systems operational and many parts and items not found on all restored M18s. All exterior mounted hardware included with discussions centering around accessory guns, if needed. Radio and intercom system installed and fully operational. It has substantial film provenance as it was a ‘star’ in several feature films including “Saints and Soldiers: The Void” and more than dozen tv shows notably with R. Lee. Ermy and other television personalities. Numerous spares may also be made available. An M172A1 military armored vehicles transport trailer (as in tractor-trailer type) may also be available as new buyer decides. The M172A1 is over-the-road certified and licensed to be pulled by a modern tractor or a US Military vehicle.
Sale prices varies with spares and accessories buyer/interested party may want. A complete list of spares is available upon request but may include many interior spare systems, radios, WWII pics and headphones with cables and complete set pf Spaulding WWII orig helmets, gun parts, 50 cal primers, loading dies, primer systems, original Serial No. 1 M18 Hellcat data plate from Buick awarded to the PM of Buick w/ photos, M2HB live or semi or dummy, five WWII M1 carbines, M3 tripod, pioneer tools, original WWII pioneer straps, MP48 with set of antenna rods, RC-99 intercom amp, spare DTD transmission, spare transfer case, core R975C4 motor and parts, complete set of NOS road wheels, 1 or 2 sets of new tracks, spare set of all canvas, not counting set already on the vehicle, NOS Lil Joe HRUH-28VDC aux generator, spare fuel pumps, spare magnetos, spare exhaust pipe system, original hatch gaskets w spares, more than enough ammo components for 100+ rounds, the M172A1, and trailer spare tires. price is $500,000 + or - depending on the size of your trailer to haul what you want to buy away. Delivery available. All NFA rules apply to this sale - but the M18 is also for sale WITHOUT the main gun being live for a price adjustment. Dummy gun w/ original barrel provided in place of live barrel and ring. Owner will r&r as necessary at buyer's request.
