So @fuzzytoaster and I were chit-chatting a while back and he asked how the M715 was going and I told him I was just about done with her and I said "Yeah, I don't know what I'm going to do to keep busy now.... I still have the fever.."

He says: "Well, there's only one cure for the fever...."

I replied "Yeah.... more cowbell!" (Quoting the great SNL skit with Cristopher Walken).

He tells me kind of jokingly "Well, COINCIDENTALLY.... I just got a shipment of some USMC M1114 slantbacks"

Then i had to quote "Jerry McGuire". I told him "SHUT UP! SHUT UP! You had me at slantback!" 😁😀😄

So ANYWAY.....

Here she is.... my latest addition to the motorpool.... "More Cowbell" as I saw here when he sent me pics...

We did the deal and I asked about a roof, he told me there's a local shop that can fab them, he would install it for me, we agreed on a price, and for the next 6 weeks (I was offshore on a LONG hitch!) he worked on it and I dreamt of it.

I get the call that the truck is ready and we can come get her...

I honestly don't know who was more excited, me or my kid. (This is his dream truck).

Yesterday was the day. My kid and I loaded up the trailer and made the drive to his place. (We actually left at 2200 Sunday night because I wanted to miss Dallas traffic and my kid and I were both too excited to sleep).

We get to the shop and my kid tells me "DAD! I'm tired, but I'm too excited to sleep!"

Fuzzy gets there and we load her up.

After a LONG drive home, we unload her

I get her in the shop and my buddy and I start "The List" (prioritizing what we will do).

The last thing I told her and the M715 last night was "Play nice you two!"

What is the overlay along the bottom below the doors on the jack rail? . It doesn't look like the normal aluminum overlay armor. Maybe that is the first layer?
Normally it has a pointy piece that sticks up between the doors. Kind of covers the green part.

The Marines were kind enough to remove the "skin" from it and part of the roof install was new "skins"
A skinless truck....

Yesterday was cleanup and installation of a few accessories. One of the great things about the delay between purchase and pickup gave me an opportunity to pick up a few things.

Unfortunately, @juanprado I wasn't aware you had a fording exhaust, but I found a NOS one priced really reasonably.

I also picked up a spare tire carrier etc.

So Jak and I got busy...

First cleaning

While the truck was drying, we started cleaning and painting

(High heat Krylon).

Then it was installation time.

I also installed an antenna I found...

20250617_122325.jpg

I only wacked my head a couple of times....

All in all a good day and Jak and I went home exhausted.

Today started off with about 60 miles of driving as she's legal and i have only brought her around the block. Topped off fuel, then just enjoyed her...

The I mocked up the light bar I picked up from @ZiggyO (everyone knows I like my lights!)

20250618_124454.jpg

I was looking at the truck and the primer, green and ran was hurting g my feelings, so it was off to Lowes to pick up some tan, then we got busy painting. (Just a rough coat, the nice coat comes before stencil)

I think it came out rather nicely...

So while driving it home tonight, I swung by to visit my lady and her Jeep...

Tomorrow should be mounting and wiring the lights, getting started on the doors and an oil change.

Ok. I have a set of the outer skins that were missing as well as the backing plates. I was told they were off of an 1114 anyway. I was going to cut the pointy part off of them and make a set of Jack rails out of them. Ended up using a set of the inner backing plates
and making a set of MSG style Jack rails that accept the side steps or ammo can carriers.
If you decide to buy another truck for your collection.
You need a bigger light bar.
Something like the EYE Con 360 off an MRAP.
Have fun with your new truck
