Couple questions:

1. What is going on with the facial hair in that one pic? I gotta get him a set of Bics for Christmas....

2. Any plans on a -819 wrecker repaint in the near future? I remember you talking about restoring the truck this year....

Thanks everyone for the nice complements. It was fun.

Rizzo: "nice, more pics"

You'd think with a million pics I would've taken a wide shot showing both trucks hooked together. Next time.

Yes Will its a C-180. Manufacture date is 1971. I'm sure it replaced the original Hercules Gasser. The blower whine is cool. It runs great. Is there anything bad about them that I should know about? I did get a comment from an old timer who said it was a bad series of motor.

I used to have a 1947 Oshkosh W series plow truck with a Hercules RXC. IIRC - It was about 529 cu in and ran real good. Did your truck orignally have an RXC?

Nice trucks!

Very Cool recovery story and pictures. I love the old Oshgosh trucks they are tough as nails. Was that tire shredded when you got it of did it hit the ground while towing? Do all of the towing accesories work? Are you going to use it to plow commercially? What a neet truck.

That is one fine looking truck. Glad it runs good too! The towing modification on the back of the 816 looks very original and effective. Very handy!

Nice job. To bad you did not get any pics of it going through times square.

Where did you get the tow bar? That thing looks real...

Just thought i would share the mod that i did to my XM819. moved the original shackle mount over and added one next to it. then used a Holmes tow bar. works well for me and keeps it pretty stock lookong when the bar is removed.

Awesome pics DaveP!! I guess you beat us to it!! :)

I just wanted to include a picture I found on a Dutch website: ArmyMotorCars

Its the same model truck. The Navy seems to have used some brands of trucks not found in the others services like: Sterling, Oshkosh, Federal, Biederman, etc.
