Right now on a certain government surplus website that used to sell trucks (but lost the contract), there is now has a B-52 listed in the scrap section. Sealed bid.

According the Wikipedia, this is a B-52 that has been cannibalized to provide parts for other aircraft on display and that it is slated for destruction.

Too bad it has to be scrapped though. I am surprised nobody wants anymore parts of it for display. :-(

Mods, I intentionally did not post the link to stay out of trouble. If this thread still violates the rules, please delete it.

A co worker sent me that offering on XX as a joke, said I should bid on it! The winner has to do the EUC thing & then demill the entire bird. Also you are responsible for all fluids, batteries & other EPA regulated hazardous materials clean up! Probably no towing home either!

Short answer is NO, in accordance with the SALT TWO and various other little handshake deals with the russkies it has to have its back bone severed , big gullitine, and then has to be left for a specified number of satalilte passes exposed for verification. I have picked up a number of crashed ones, best deal is no deal, what we used to routinely bury is now considered haz mat

Surely somebody knows somebody who knows somebody.....

Do you have a tug?
No tug in our motor pool, BUT.....

We DO HAVE a Deuce, a 5-ton Semi-Tractor, a Medium Tow Bar and a HEAVY Tow Bar too.

Thinking outside the box, I'm visualizing BIG TOW recovery IN MY DREAMS.

If it weren't for that TOTAL DEMIL requirement, I'd love to mount the cockpit section as though protruding from one side of a building and then the empenage (tail section) "inserted" into the opposing exterior wall. http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/empennage Depending on the proportions of the building, the wingtips could also stick out of the adjacent sidewalls.
It would make good "signage" for an eccentric-themed restaurant.

Carry on.

There is enough 8x8s on site that we could pull more then one little B52 at one time off base. Now that would be a picture, 3 B52s daisy chained being pulled by a bunch of loaded 8x8s all daisy chained to together.,

Looks like a Viet Nam era B-52 E/F model. To bad she had to go to the smelter. Only the short tailed B-52 H model is in service today.300px-Usaf.Boeing_B-52.jpg
