Panama City fl area, assistance request

Today I was made aware of a good friend’s friend who lost his home during hurricane Michael. He lost his home totally. In an effort to help him my friend has offered to bring his travel trailer to stay in while he clears and rebuilds his home. We are looking for someone with a place to park the camper until his house is rebuilt. He is a veteran. Please post up if you can help or if you know of a place nearby that can. Thanks in advance.

Update, the need is still there but we have no location to set the trailer so we are holding out for somewhere to park it.

Thanks Pat, the trailer is a fifth wheel so I'm apprehensive about staging it that far away(from the final destination).

The poor guy has nothing and hasn't had a hot shower in over 3 weeks so far. My understanding is he is staying in the one room that still stands after the storm. No electric or water, and total devastation. Curfew, and traffic is greatly hindering his ability to get away(I don't even think he has a car anymore).

Unfortunately, his home lot is not large enough to put a trailer on.

If your offer can work into the plans. I'll let you know.

btw, The guy in need was my friends team leader in Afghanistan. I know how bad John wants to help him, and I am just trying to make a connection for this to happen. I did offer to drive the trip down and back with John to relieve the driving.

It's a brother helping a brother thing. You know, that's what this site is all about.

I'm in Perry Florida. 111 Miles from PC. My brother has a space he would be welcome at.

It looks like Wheelspinner's friend is about 16 miles from our friends home location.

Arragements are being made to place the camper in his vacinity.

Wheelspinners friend and associates are a Godsend.

We are now planning to travel first thing next week.

I'll update as things develop more.

In the meantime, Pat's friend has offered to assist with our friends immediate needs. (Thank you so much)

Looks like Sunday morning is go time for this.

Well, today we were told to hold off a bit longer because apparently the town has a restriction on RV/campers being setup for continued use.

They are trying to get this rule temporarily withdrawn during this emergency situation.

The parties involved do not want to break any laws.

More challenges to overcome before we can help.

The guy spoke with the mayor today and they are refusing to allow rvs,or travel trailers to be set up for continued use during this afterstorm situation.

It's absolutely rediculous... He said they(Police) are stricly enfocing this.

It sounds like a lot of local politics and developers are deep into their shenanagins.

I have had my bag packed, and we are ready to roll but we must follow the rules too.

We're so frustarted...

I just texted a customer I know down there just north of Panama City. i have hauled him a few pieces of equipment I will see if he knows anywhere there is space or if he has any room.

Just received word that a variance was issued by the mayor.

Depending on weather here, we may be heading South on Sunday.

Update

My friend is hitting the road tonight, headed for Florida.

His friend has made enough room(cleared debris) for the camper to be placed in his own yard.

He feels this is the only safe option as he is afraid to leave his property due to looting and theft of materials for rebuilding.

He has carpenters lined up.

He has still been staying in the one room that still stands. He mentioned in good spirits that he just replaced the roof over that room(with a new blue tarp!)

I can't make the trip due to some issues I have going on.

I'll be in touch with them as things progress.

Well, My friend made it there around 1AM Wed.

He said the place is FUBAR.

6 weeks after, people are still living in tents or condemned buildings because they have no where else to go.

Looting and debris is rampant everywhere.

The only pic I have so far is of the neighbors home. They never returned.
