Well, me and texrdnec were just looking at this latest deuce and there's this set screw coming through a bracket off the transfer case. The screw appears to be holding the top boot of the parking brake drum in the engaged position.

Here's a picture of what I'm talking about.

At any rate, the parking brake lever causes no movement and the only way we were able to load this deuce onto the gooseneck was by disconnecting the drive shaft.

That is the primary leverage adjustment. Loosen it and the brakes will now function, IF the cable is adjusted. I have a sneaking suspicion that the cable might be stretched so some GL employee wanted to lock it up to prevent parking lot slippage. Chock it up BEFORE adjusting this. BOTH WAYS!!!! I know it is flat there but still, we don't want any accidents...of course you unloaded it.. Page 13-9 in the TM.

I'll be down tomorrow to start the repairs. And sample some brew.:-D

Yeah, we loosened it and still no movement. So yeah, probably either a cable issue or the brakes are really really frozen. We tried beating on it with a deadblow hammer.

Of course eeyore assumed this meant the world was ending.

Yep, lots of brew to be sampled.

And I hope you're not allergic to mosquito repellant.

We might need to unfreeze the brakes, sounds like corrosion has also hit the parking brake's toggle link. Did you disengage the lever in the cab ?

Page 13-10 on the TM. It really is simple.

I will gladly take a bath in DEET to avoid mosquitos. Got any aversion to fogging? Better living through chemisty, get the spray cans at TSC. Kill them all:twisted:
