Parking Brake with spring / without?

I'm replacing my parking brake shoes on my '67 M35-A1 and noticed the new set don't have the spring (pictured) or the casting? Are the new ones ok to fit 'as is' without the spring or is their something i'm missing? Thanks for all advice in advance.

Best I can remember the spring is an ajustment .

The mustache spring keeps the shoes apart so they don't wear on the drum when the brake is off. I have seen them recently with out the holes cast in them for the pins that the spring goes on. They might be aftermarket and the copy cats forgot to copy everything. JT out

I think only the very early ones came without the spring and attaching bolts and later this was upgraded.

Agreed that it should have the spring!

So far I have retrofitted two sets with the missing bolts (pre-heat, mig-weld!) and a "custom" do-it-yourself spring. Working well!

Don't know in your case. I wouldn't bother if I could return those and either get the correct ones or clean your old ones and have them re-lined (1/4"x 3")
