AC Delco 24volt Starter Part numbers:
10461453, 10465015, 10479611

These will work in any 6.2L diesel that are found in the CUCV series military vehicles. Automatic or Manual, M1008, M1009 or M1010.

Take a look on E-bay or O'Rieliey's Auto Parts.

Is your starter completely missing or just not functioning? If you have the core, one option would be to get it rebuilt. I just did this with my starter and I'm very pleased with the results. It ran me about $250, but it's as good as new (even painted!) and not made in China.

wow $250 for a rebuilt starter i payed like $190 for a new starter for my m1009

$250 sounds a bit high. If you find a starter and alternator repair shop that does the work it should be less. I never had the 24V rebuilt though. But most shops send them to small places that are dirty and hard to find. If you do not know where one is ask a mechanic. Find out where they drink beer and ask them while they are drinking. They are much more willing to help then. Also remember some RV's are 24V so an RV shop may have one. I know my oil filter is listed for school buses with the 6.2 or 6.5. So just find a civi application for what you want and it makes it easier to find.
