I would assume that the part was discontinued at one point (probably at the 10 year point), but the govt supply system requested that they reinstate it.

I had one crack one time and fixed it in less than 45 seconds with a red hot glowing screw driver tip.It welded the crack right up and still is working a year later.
They also have something called a plastic weld kit at the parts store. I am just guessing it must be like JB weld but alot more runny
