Hopefully, next week my M51A2 will get some action. We are going to level part of the area around my son's workshop and the earth will be dumped around the outskirts of his property and to fill up a ditch to move the passing forest road 10 feet. An old Russian excavator with me as driver will dig up the earth and drop it in the bed. Then I have to get into the M51, drive forward 60 feet and side-backwards 80 feet, dump the ground, go back in position for the next load etc etc.

I would say that its better to let the engines of both M51 and the excavator running permanently and keep a good eye on the temps. Correct?

Any idea when idling or doing this work, how many gallons PER HOUR an M51A2 multifuel consumes

One problem is also that there is a water leak somewhere and I haven't figured out where it is yet, so I have to be careful with that.

The tm says if idle time is less then 30 min let the engine run. I would just let the truck run. Starting and stopping would be way harder on the engine and starting / charging system.
