You guys might remember my posts from 2016. I replaced my LDS with an LDT from a duece. Ran alright for a good while, I have put this baby through a ton of work! But, that engine was a bum from the beginning. The rear piston sleeve was loose and has gotten worse. Antifreeze is everywhere. It is time for a new engine!

I found a few multi-fuels around but I was thinking about something more reliable. Army Dave told me to get an Cummins NDT 250 NA. We can't seem to find one at the moment.

What engines do you guys like to put in these old 5 tons and does anyone know where or who I should check with in the Pacific Northwest region? (Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana)

Thanks in advance!

Jason

Sharp truck! I’d say look for a $500 LDS pullout, or swap yourself a GOOD running 12v 5.9 Cummins in there. Although smaller, a 5.9 Cummins in good health turned up to about 250 horse and 5xx torque will easily outwork a multifuel with better parts availability, cheaper maintenance cost, better longevity, better fuel economy, and still stupid simple to work on.

Check out @Jeepsinker and his build

Got side tracked. I am still on the hunt for an engine.

Will a 24v 5.9 cummins fit? Or only the 12v?
Anyone know if a 6.7L Cummins will fit?
Same basic dimensions. Different internals. 6.7 would be wonderful

5.9s are too light duty

8.3. DT466. Something in the medium duty line.

Or shove a big cam in it
