Possible to use 9.00-20 tubes for 11.00-20 tires?

I bought some brand new tubes when I replaced all the 11x20 NDTs on the XM818- Nice (I thought) heavy new rubber tubes- I've had 4 fail already, on on a steer tire with the tanker on (empty luckly) Truck didn't really go anywhere, but I had an experianced man driving, so he knew what to do.

I know the ones that failed were not pinched- and I did figure out that I cause two of them, between me moving the tubes around the valve stems on some wore little weak spots on others.

Just picked up 10 10-20 tubes at a local tire place for 24.50 each. Cheapest I found internet or locally.

Been using 10-20 tubes in the 11-20 tires on the M35 for about 3 years. Noticed the other day a tire has a slow leak, don't know if it's the tube yet.

Can anyone tell me EXACTLY what size tube is supposed to go in 395 tires? Id like to buy the right tubes for the 395 but dont know which ones to get. Where's the cheapest place to get them? Thanks for the help.

When we went from 9.00 x 20 to 12.5 x 20 tires recently on our M35A2 W/W, the tire guy at Gensco Tires in Houston sold us some kind of heavy duty 10 x 20 tubes, he specifically said not to re-use the 9.00 x 20 tubes on the larger tires...

Just repeating what we were told. I figured the 12.5's would need at least 11 x 20 tubes, but the tubes he sent us looked more than one size bigger than the 9 x 20 tubes......

I too have 12.50R20 and was sold 10x20 tubes. The 12.50R20 and 9.00 20 are the same size dia. but are wider. Just make sure to use a radial tube with radial tires and make sure the flaps are good. I reuse a flap that was bad and it cost me a brand new tube plus had to take the tire and wheel apart again.

395 tires work well with a 13.00/14.00 x 20 tube. There are flaps that work well with these from the industrial/farm tire dealers. your wheels should be 10-11 inches wide inside to inside. JT

I used the existing 9.00x20 tubes when I switched to new 11.00x20 NDT military tires in the rear and tractor steer tires on the front on the M35. I had no problem and ran it for >7000 miles, sold the truck to 54REO, and the tubes are still the same. The tire service guy said it was safe. However, after reading this thread, I would not do it again.

As most have said, they will work for a while. They WILL NOT explode, but are likely to go flat over time. My .02

I think you should air up the tire and then remove the core and do it again. I had a tube wear due to a wrinkle and go flat.
