Don't bust the guy for financing it, many banks make a living financing classic cars and such. Make sure you are able to afford it either way.
I have to be honest with you, I agree with the damage these guys pointed out. That rig looks like it has been through the ringer. I would either walk away or pay an expert to look the frame over. It takes a pretty decent amount of force to bend metal like that. I'm not saying that it is beyond cosmetic but out of all the CUCV's on here, not many have twisted shackles.
