Wow... !!!
Fun... !!! First and foremost.. Aloha All. It's been a while and I wanted to
post a thread to my latest venture. I needed to replace the harmonic balancer.
1st time I did a balancer on the 6.2 diesel M1008 1986. It wasn't that difficult at all.
Of course I cheated and looked at this wonderful website a few times. There is
good information from you all. I did read up on posts regarding the power
steering. If you notice the pictures attached I came up with my own. I'm sure someone
has done this... just didn't read about it or see it in my research on this
website. If you notice there is a strap running obnoxiously to my garage door
support. Could have done it a few different ways with the ratcheting strap/tie
down, but this actually worked perfect, for an alternative. 3 minutes and I had
SUPER tension. Almost too much. I noticed there are tools and adapters and such
that can be purchased and good to have in your tool collection... But by
purchasing all these items, we don't get to understand what the heck was going through the engineers head at GM.
Something needs to be fabricated for a much easier assembly and adjustment. I saw some gadgets, but...
Then again... That would take all the fun out of owning a CUCV... Think about
it! Aloha
