I found a 1985 5 ton. It looks nice. Paint is not fresh but looks good. It has the dropside troop seats. Hard top. Can't remember now if it had a winch or not, looked as several other trucks. Price posted on the windshield is $8,500. How much are they selling for?

Sermis,
You need to give us more information before we can give you any worthwhile advice. Does the truck have any rust (rot)? Is it an M939 or M809 series truck (an automatic transmission is a dead give away)? What is the mileage? Tire condition (the super singles are not cheap)? What is the condition of the other sheet metal (the hood on an M939 series truck is expensive if you can even find a good used one!)? $8500 for an M813 is an average price if the truck is nice. $8500 for an M923/M925 is a very good price if the truck is straight. Post more information and I'll try to give you more advice. Pictures would help even more

Good luck,
Bruce

I have an M813 in excellent coniiton, no rust, good carc. My surplus dealer told me its the staightest one he has seen. He told me 8500 is a good price, the way to get more is singles, winch and a heater. That stuff is exspensive to add so I am asking 8500. Hope that helps. Mick

Something else is a clear title and license. I got lucky with my form 27, everything went well at the DMV.

Well, once upon a time it was a USMC truck, or at least the front bumper was... Somebody has cut the "paperclips" off flush with the top edge of the bumper... A shame...

The "paper clips" are for lifting the truck onto a ship. They were added to allow the spread of the slings to widen and prevent accidents like inverted trucks.

On hwy 36 across the road and down a couple blocks from the Army Navy surplus. Around the CEFCO gas station as you come in from Temple.

If its an M813A1 from the USMC, then it should also have detroit lockers in the rear diff. That's the ISO Dropside bed. It'll carry ISO containers in the following modes.

1 12' container
1 10' container
2 6' containers (end doors facing the side)

With Singles and everything else good, I'd expect the value to be more that 8500. $10K or a touch more.

Does it have the fording kit too?
