G covered the actual private messaging already. Just click on the icon at the top right of the page next to your name with the mail icon on it. At the very bottom you can start a new conversation (message) with a person.

As to tagging people. Not sure I follow. Yes, tagging people in a post will send them a notice that they've been tagged in a THREAD. But I'm not sure how that would be confused with a private message?

Or are we talking about people making profile posts? I've been trying to reply to people doing that. That shows up for anyone browsing someone's profile. I see no one seems to even read my replies about it. I'm honestly to the point I think I'm just going to disable that function.

What about getting notices of new posts to 2 threads that haven't been updated since 2013 and 2017 ?Screenshot_2020-01-28 Alerts.png

Those posts were incorrectly in moderation que and were approved. They will update everyone following, but they'll post at their actual post date.

Sadly there's a lot of posts out there that were moderated by the old software and were mistakenly "swept under the rug" so to speak. I'm sure we lost some possible members to SS because of the flaw. :(

I'm currently trying to work my way through hundreds of these moderated posts. It takes time to read one-by-one and I'm only approving what I think has some useful content - regardless of date posted.

@porkysplace : Sorry if getting a notice/alert bothered you that much.

It makes it hard to figure out who replied to your post when it doesn't show up on the feed . And is there a way to shut off being tagged

Can I hijack? Why is it that I don't see all of the "conversations" in the little envelope? I need to go to e-mail and look at it that way. Example, a long, many reply conversation with wgtactical. It is not under the envelope, need to go to my e-mail notification to see it or reply to it.

That only displays the unread messages. There's a link at the bottom of the list that allows you to view all.

So I went to my conversations hoping to delete some of the older ones, as in the old site the PM list there is a box on each entry you can check ( left of the Replies Participants) . When you get to the bottom of the page there are no options to do anything, like delete, all clicking the square does is highlight the entry. The only way I have found to delete is to open each conversation and use the "Leave " button, is there not a way to delete in bulk?

Dave, instead of going through them one-by-one, there is one box at the bottom left that says "select all" and It addresses all of the conversations on that one page, about 35 per page. Clicking on it and then select "leave" will delete all of the conversations at once. With one additional feature, which is two options to click on: A) the system to restore a particular conversation if there ever was a response. Or B) permanently delete it.

You can also select multiple pages and then "leave/delete" all of them, at once.

Not sure if this answers your question?
