So, installing towbar on side of M816, I found that the inservice welded collars mod, stops the two legs closing for stowage.. Anyone else have this situation?20241126_144723.jpg20241126_144809.jpg20241126_145828.jpg

Gonna have to 'caress' the collars a little.

Before grinding, the legs didn't meet by about 12-13", probably 8-10 degrees. Going to try to get them to meet with the minimum of the collar being removed - hence the blue marker and constant reassembly to create witness marks for further grinding. Will have to add a little to allow for paint. Will show body side install later.

Well - that would be a 'get you by', but seeing as I am recreating an actual inservice mod'd wrecker - it's gotta be what it's gotta be. Stowage of seperate halves would be a suitable and real world option in any other instance, that's how I did the 'mother of all towbars' (M88), I fitted to the bumper of my 916A1. Considering the weight of that thing - the only way to go! Many comments from shows being "looks factory to me" etc.
