This is the correct FMTV cab support tool for working with the cab up, but not fully forward - in cases where you don't really want to unload everything and prepare for full forward cab tilt. This is part of the FMTV special tools kit that every Army unit with FMTV's is supposed to have at least one of. Being this tool is entirely not applicable to A1P2's, any unit that no longer has soft cab trucks will eventually toss these in the scrap metal bin. Thus any of you that know people in Army Motorpool organizations might ask if they have run across one and no longer need it.

These guys have them listed for sale.

Maybe this should be stickied as a safety item?

yea, unless you need to work on the latch:)
Well in that unenviable position, you will have to go full tilt. And there's plenty of other situations that require this as well. But for daily/weekly/monthly PMCS and jobs that allow it's use it can be very useful.

catch 22 is.. might be less expensive to have a local welder make you one than it would be to ship that heavy thang.
Naw. It's probably ~10 - 15 lbs. Shipping probably $25 or less. It fits over the latch perfectly and the pin end is rubber coated. The right tool is available and for that price considering the cost of plate steel, cutting, welding, etc - not a chance it costs less than surplus.
