Pros and cons of fdc bypass

What are the pros and cons of bypassing the fdc. Do most only bypass to fix problems or is it considered to be preventative maintenance. And finally does the bypass effect the ability to run different fuels

I really don’t want to be a prick, and be “one of those guys” but a simple search on Google of “FDC bypass” will net you hundreds of results.

Anyways, onto your question sir; the fdc is of no value, I won’t go into great depth of what it does, how it works, etc but bypass it.
1) It’s free to do so
2) It protects your engine by eliminating one of the sources for diesel to enter the crankcase
3) It will not affect the multi-fuel capability of the engine by any means, and if anyone tells you “Once the FDC is bypassed you can only run diesel!” They are WRONG, and can be proven so 100%
4) Your engine is technically a hypercycle combustion engine, so it’s a multi fuel capable engine by design

I cannot foresee and do not know of any negative aspects of the FDC bypass other than some trucks may need to have the throttle gently pressed while cranking the engine to get it to fire on the first rotation, otherwise it will crank in 5-10 if not.

If you do bypass the FDC, you should seriously consider installing a EGT gauge and a boost gauge.
