@Guyfang I found this here which seems to be a complete list of PS magazine’s starting from Issue # 2 July 1951 until #804 November 2019 from which point the link in post #1 takes over as this apparently changed to digital format only

Note:
Click on the issue number. The issue cover page will be shown with a link to the full pdf of this issue.
A few issues maybe missing.

it might be a good idea if one of our esteemed members, who is about to die of boredom, starts to download each issue (about 800+ downloads) and the forum experts start compiling a download section where all pdf’s are searchable by keyword(s)

just some food for thought

@peapvp thank you for sharing that website!

I used Python to scrape the site and download all the PDFs. Took about an hour or two to code and run. It looks like Issue 001, 164, and 804 are missing.

The 800 back issues are about 22GB compressed. What is the best way to make these available to members? Break up into several smaller chunks? Host on a content delivery platform for full download? Happy to help however and can continue to automate a lot of the tedious work.

It is a shame PS Magazine is being discontinued and sad to hear @Guyfang’s old issues were tossed.

@1151 thank you so much for your hard-work and dedication!
I guess, as to the technical side of hosting these pdf’s and make them searchable from the website would be something @Guyfang would have to arrange / coordinate with @patracy I believe.

Update. I have so far got 16 years of the PS magazines renamed and in order. It is kinda a slow thing. BUT, I have found a wonderful copy of the missing first issue. I attached it for your viewing pleasure.

I also have issue 0804. But its to big to post here. We will be working on that.

.
So, I sat down and read Issue 1 of PS Magazine. It really is amazing how much detail they put into an issue. Covers everything that has wheels on it! Interesting about the "dive to the right" on hard braking in a jeep...

I downloaded it. I am opening each issue to see if it works. I have found about 6-7 issues so far, that will not open up. When that happens, I find it someplace else and insert it. I am also shortening the PDF file name. Also I have found the Indexes for the early issues, and am checking them out. When that is done, I will send it to the boss and he will put it in the SS Forum.

Update.

I have renamed all 800+ PS magazines, and placed them in folders. Three years worth of PS Magazines per Folder.

I have found some PS magazines that are titled BYOI. Be Your Own Inspector. VERY interesting. Placed them in a Folder.

I have found a LOT of the Indexes for the PS magazines. Placed them in a Folder, in order of the year. Sadly, someone removed many of the Index's. I will try and find them if possible. I may put a list in here to see if others have more luck than I have so far. The indexes make it MUCH easier to find articles on the equipment you want to research.

I have fixed a few Issues that had error messages, or will not open. And so has @Mullaney . I will be sending him some more to look at. Sometimes I can find a replacement on line for free, and I simply download it, and insert it to the listing.

There are some other Special Issues, that cover certain equipment. They have been put into a separate Folder also. Even an Issue in Vietnamese.

I got lazy and stopped opening up every issue. I am now correcting that mistake.

The quality of the early issues is sometimes not so good, but still readable.

Starting with Issue #805, the PS magazine was only on line. I included issue #805 to round out that year. I will not say anything after #804 is worthless, because it isn't, if you have a CAC card. But did not include any issues after #805, as they are posted on line and available to anyone. But the Issues show a small blurb of the article, and a link. You can only access that link if you have a CAC card. There are a few members who have a CAC card, but are not, (probably) going to download articles, due to security issues. So, PS ends at #805.
