So the write up on this truck says its a 1993 but when I click on the NSN it reads this.

Procurement History Information 2320-01-383-2047 DateContract No.SOSQtyPriceUICAGEVendor 1999/01 DAAE0799DM001 AKZ 15 61,047.00 EA 0H3G6AM GENERAL L 1998/12 DAAE0799DM001 AKZ 180 61,047.00 EA 0H3G6AM GENERAL L 1998/10 DAAE0799DM001 AKZ 400 61,047.00 EA 0H3G6AM GENERAL L

So is it a 93, 98 or 99?

Can't go by the nsn or procurement history to determine the year it was built. Only the serial number and or the registration number will tell that. Do you have the truck and does it have a data plate?

I have not picked it up yet and the pictures do not show the data plate.

Until you have it or have inspected it all you can do is hope that the GL folks got the VIN and year right- they do about 75% of the time.

Yet another reason why laying hands and eyes on the trucks before you bid is a really good idea.

That procurement sheet tells you when the govt. goes out for bid and purchase, and price paid for the same item. Prices normally go up with each year they are ordered. The govt. could buy a specific Michelin tire with a specific NSN for ten years for instance, where it might cost $150 the first year, then run up in price to $300 ten years later, and all those govt. contracts and prices are recorded on that same NSN and made available to you.

That is what you are looking at. It has little to do with the specifics of your truck, by way of individual identity, outside of a NSN.

By the way, if price doesn't change much over a broad period of time, it is because there is either an abnomaly in the reporting, OR, because the govt. got a firm fixed price contract with options that could be exercised upon need at a later date. Budgeting often keeps the govt. from buying all they need in a specific year, so they ofter spread their purchases out over several years when new budgetary money comes about to complete their mission.
