Question for winch owners

Do any of you use a winch weight?

I know in "lighter" off-roading circles, it is common practice to use a winch weight of some type (weather a crude sack with some rocks held on the cable to an actual marketed "winch weight"). Does anyone use one of some type or another? I'd imagine it'd have to be fairly heavy, due to the thicker cable used... might not be a bad idea, though... that cable would surely take out something substantial if it snapped!

yes, I do. Its very unsafe practice to not put some sort of weight on the cable. Use an old jacket and put rocks in the pockets, anything to bring it down if it snaps
