Questions - MERDC Camo Pattern and Unit Markings

Good evening folks. I'm planning on converting my M151A2 over to a USMC vehicle in the next few weeks and was hoping that someone could help with a couple of questions I have regarding the MERDC camo pattern and the unit markings on the vehicle. I'm interested in painting my truck as an early 1980's USMC vehicle patterned after those seen in Beirut.

- My first question isn't really a question, so much as confirming what I think I already know. This is the summer verdant MERDC pallete, correct?

- My next question is in regards to vehicle markings. Any idea what the markings are on the panel behind the front tires? It appears that it was primarily the 8th Marines in Beirut from 82-84, but the number is too short for a RUC number and the horizontal diamond or brackets around the number wouldn't be correct for the 2nd Mar Division.

Thanks everyone and I look forward to your feedback.

Contact DAVID DOYLE on this list. He has written books that included a lot of information on the various camo patterns and painting of vehicles. Also, you could contact CUCVFAN. He bought my M151A2 from me (or his dad did). That truck was correctly painted in the MERDC camo scheme. I love that camo scheme! Good luck!
