Quite interested in your winch problem! The clutch handle on my winch is stuck in the "IN" position and won't move at all. Like yours, looks like it was overwound, actually broke the right side roller off, and bent the bumper inward. Trying to figure what I will have to do. The winch can be operated from inside the cab, but not on the outside. Could use some advice from you or anyone else who may have an answer.
Thanks in advance
Dave Anderson
It's supposed to be operated from the cab, the in and out is to freewheel the spool. If it is still wound up tight put it in neutral and unwind it some by hand turning the shaft to the winch until there is enough slack to undo the cable. If the freewheel lever is still stuck try soaking it in penetrating oil and use a putty knife to wedge the locking pawl back so you can move the lever. Also don't forget about the drum lock, if it isn't working you might need to leave the lever engaged.

Wow, I thought the clutch lever would operate the winch in and out from outside the cab. Mine isn't still wound up tight, I can
operate it from the cab, the drum lock does work. Thanks so much for explaining, I'm just ignorant, but learning.
