This is VERY SAD news, but in a way JAMES is still doing his part to help SS along by bring to our attention the things that are still undone that should be done before our passing on, not talking about MVs, but things in our personal life, like making amends to someone we wronged, fixing estranged relationships, to wills, because we NEVER know when it is our time

Shootin Iron was one of my earliest acquaintences on this site and has become a good friend to me since then. I am so sorry to have found out tonight that he is gone, I will pray that God blesses him and his family. The trouble with having friends is when when we lose one through no fault of their own. This is a very sad thing to hear. RIP Shootiniron~ When I worked as the Opns Sergeant at the Army Safety Ctr there were several Class A accidents that I sent investigators out to and of course they were never sent to accidents where someone didn't loose their life... Seems that most MV's don't crash very well at all, especially Deuces and HEMTT's. All were worthless scrap afterwards. BE careful out there on the highways. If you like taking chances go to a casino....

I just got back on here after a bit of absence and am saddened to hear about James. His posts were a great help to me. I heard about it earlier by accident a friend of mine that is and OTR driver He passed the accident and was telling me about on the phone after. I immediately thought about the folks on this forum.

I was in one of the Macks at work and our top speed is 55. On the 4 lane there no telling how many times Ive had a clear passing lane to the left and a truck or car has almost teailended us. Rest in Peace our Friend.

It's hard for me to express how I feel about a fellow SS member Shootiniron's passing. I did not know him yet I did. I have read his posts and responded to a few. The words remain yet the man is gone and those words will become his memory.

Death is something that will come to us all. You never know in what form or when. Shootiron passed doing what he loved, driving his OD Iron. I just hope in the moments leading up to this horrific incident, he was at peace with himself and at one with God and his Deuce.

Tomorrow, Independence Day, my truck, my son and I will be in small neighborhood parade. I am sure other SS members will be too. Shootiniron will be in all our cabs with us keeping us safe and as his memory will live on forever.

This is Jamie's wife posting for him as he has left this world.

James David "Jamie" Ruman died tragically in a highway accident near Cedar City, Utah on July 1, 2011. Jamie was born June 24, 1961 in Tucson. An Arizona kid, he grew up in Phoenix and Camp Verde and always had a special place in his heart for the Tucson area where his maternal grandparents, Jim and Edith Knazur, and his Aunt Betty and her family lived. He married Kathy Eaton in 1982 with whom he had son Josh and daughter Callie, who were his pride and joy. Kathy and Jamie divorced in 1998. He met and married Cheri Kaye, the love of his life in 2001. They had just moved from Prescott, Arizona to Escalante, Utah, where they planned to spend their golden years. Jamie was a highly skilled equipment operator who spent his working life in the field of heavy highway construction. He was greatly valued by his employers at Vastco Construction for his proficiency, professionalism, and work ethic. Jamie was a true American Patriot whose love of country led him to serve in the US Navy Reserves Construction Battalion - SeaBees- completing a year-long tour of duty in Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Passionate about and honorable in his beliefs and convictions, Jamie also possessed a wicked sense of humor and a fun-loving heart. He was such a special person and he will be missed beyond words.

Jamie is survived by his cherished wife Cheri Kaye; children Joshua of Prescott, Arizona and Callie of Vienna, Virginia; his parents David and Suzi Ruman of Camp Verde, Arizona; sister Kaidie (Randall) ****inson and niece Aimee of Anchorage, Alaska; stepdaughter Kourtnee Clatterbuck of Phoenix, and stepsons Buck (Machelle) Clatterbuck of Chino Valley and Spike (Katie) Clatterbuck of Flagstaff, Arizona; in-laws- Kirk and Ilene Fuhriman of Las Vegas, Nevada; Aunt Betty Gardner of Oro Valley, Arizona, and many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.

A Celebration of his Life will be on Thursday, July 7th (TIME PENDING) at Sunrise Funeral Home and Crematory. We will begin with military honors and then have an simple, joyful celebration of his life with sharing of memories by friends and family.

Airborne, you can "what if" yourself until the end of time. You just can't do that to yourself. I don't know what sort of religious beliefs that you hold, but I believe that God tapped him on the shoulder and said "Come on, son, let's go home". It wasn't your fault, and there's nothing that you could have done to stop it. Don't beat yourself up over it. (Which, I know, is easier said than done.)

I started reading this thread just before leaving for several parades and shows this weekend. Shootiniron was in my thoughts the whole time. I drove with more caution than ever,slower,both hands on the wheel, more distance between vehicles. But some things are just beyond our control. I am sure he will be remembered every time someone gets behind the wheel. Our thoughts are with the family and will do anything to help.
