Radiator/Fan Question

I replaced all the belts and hoses on my deuce, flushed the cooling system, and am installing a coolant filter. My question is this: Should I install the fan first, then the radiator, or set the radiator in the 2 holes on the bottom plate, tllt the radiator forward, and install the fan?

The TM says you don't need to take off the fan. Several guys on here have said they did take off the fan. I need to remove my rad to get it soldered so I am wondering the same thing.

If you have a winch, you can not tilt the radiator forward much at all. Protect the front.

I would put the radiator in but do not connect the top hose or brace until you install the fan blade.

And, removing and installing the fan with the radiator in is a real pain !
I find it easier to install the engine side of the radiator hose before putting the radiator back.

Yea, just put the fan on and get your radiator in the right spot and get a hammer. It will fit eventually.

This is what I have done on my 4 trucks. Put radiator on first. If you have a winched truck then put a 1/4 piece of plywood over the radiator front. The winch clutch handle lock out bracket may try and pierce your radiator...first hand experience. Once the radiator is in place, tilt it forward and carefull mount your fan. Get all your fan bolts on first before tightening them down.
