Rapco 686 over a 1983 F-250?

I just bought a 1983 F-250 from a friend for a ranch truck (I live on 41 acres). It's a 460 big block, small lift, winch up front, etc. Will likely be getting a D60 swap up front, and 35s soon.

It needs paint, as it's starting to rust. I'm planning on spraying it Rapco 686 tan to make it quick and easy.

Other than wire wheeling off the rust, any suggestions on prep work for a non MV before painting for my paint and body guy?

I painted my 1995 suburban in 686 tan-- The reason I did so is because of the peeling clearcoat that is notorious in the early to mid 90's chevys. I used a random orbit sander with successive sandings in 80, 100, and 200 grit. After that, I hit it with a light coat of rustoleum primer and then with two coats of tan. I also hit the bottom edges of the rear doors with some por-15 before primer and topcoat to address a bit of rust in the lower door seams. I think it turned out pretty good and thus far has held up well. There is a pic of it in my post "area 52 relocation aar"...........

Washing the truck with a degreaser will also help. I used a herbicide lawn spray attachment on the garden hose so I could adjust the amount of degreaser. It worked great on my deuce.
