The transmissions are known for shearing the keys on the main shaft. I had to get a new main shaft due to this. Don't start off in 2nd gear, 1st is there for a reason
this is a common myth. if you abuse anything it will break. if you put the parking brake on and rev it up, dump the clutch the main shaft will twist off. this is not a shortcoming of the trans.

Just a little off topic here, but "m-35tom" have you ever considered selling a "hardening kit" for the spicer ? I mean better bearings, hardened keys, the second gear mod you have, without the overdrive unit ?
This would be for my gasser truck.

there is just no demand. i do have bearing sets, longer rollers for the front of the mainshaft where it is supported by the input shaft and alloy keys. 2nd gear can just be drilled with a carbide drill, specs on website.
