Rear Mounted Intake??? Why?

That is different. Seems like he wanted to modernize it but I would think it be easier keeping the air intake up front facing the air flow while driving, but then again, you don't have to worry about snow or rain but I wonder how he braced it through the cab.

battery was placed under hood & fuel tank he said is under the bed... and yes I also think its a poor choice for intake so I'll likely change it. and I think I'll be able to get up fine without the step or tool box... it'll just be more fun. I currently have a lifted Jeep on 37s so I know what its like. This may just be that ...but harder hahah and as for the axle fluid.. I only ask because it's frequently overlooked

Hmm, he has some interesting taste in mods. Looking at those pics i can't see much of a fuel tank hiding under that bed. No toolbox and battery box is just plain odd and will make getting in any out unnessicarily difficult. Not to mention where the heck do you keep your supplies to keep this old truck on the road? That toolbox has saved our collective butts many many times i'm thinking. I don't see any bracing at all on that LOOOOONG sidepipe exhaust. To each thier own but he kinda ditched a lot of what gives a deuce its unique lines. That and the air intake location is simply asinine, but once again, his truck he can do as he likes.

With your Jeep and 37s, you half know what it's like. The door sills are 3 1/2 feet off the ground. God Bless you if you can step up into that. For me climbing into a jeep with 44s required using the cleats of the tires as steps. The tires on this truck are no where near the doors.

Instead of nitpicking what we would do differently on a custom build. Please remember the OP's question "Rear mounted intake??? Why?" He's not asking How do I fill my fuel tank? Where do I put all my stuff? or How do I get into my truck? It would really cut down on all the reading if people would not post comments that do not relate to what is being asked.
Now going back to the question being asked it looks like the builder might be going for a fresh air source away from the engine heat, but if he was going for that it might have been better to just have left it in the original location and saved on all the extra piping.
I hope to see more pictures of this truck and what other mods you have planned. :D

Yeah, God forbid a thread start some kind of discussion. Yous guys need to keep on SUBJECT.

I'm sure the OP will change things and make it "his own". Seem like a good starting point, but I would do stuff differently too. Maybe a wire rope ladder or chain if you can stand the noise to help climb in.

lol, I agree about everyone's points regarding the steps/ the box/ the exhaust pipe that extends out by the rear tire that doesn't appear braced... these are all valid concerns. I'll definitely give updates once the truck shows up... and as for the fuel tank - he said it's a 30 gal under the bed.... won't know until I see :X Hopefully everything functions and I will likely support that pipe btw. I will likely have to add steps as well and I'm going to have to get I guess one of those rear bed boxes ... like every other pick up has :/

and yeah he was very nice on the phone. The website is really the only bad thing... and that he didn't accept paypal which kind of sketched me out a bit but still waiting on a carrier.. hey does anyone know any shipping companies? I'm currently using Amerifreight with a set price of 1500 with a 250 deposit to them - they seem very sluggish however. Any one recommend a company that would ship from FL to NJ?

I have seen a few other truck from them on E-bay, Yes I agree the mods they do are different from most of us on SS who are looking for the "Military Look" or "Modded Military Look" But I do like the concept... Beach Cruiser, Mud Truck, Weekend Toy. Forget that it was a Deuce and just look at it as a Big Toy Truck, and for that it looks like a lot of fun. I agree Make it Your Own that is most of the fun of having these trucks. On the step or getting into the truck this is another truck they sold.... I like the step bars on it maybe something similar would work for your style. Nice truck. Enjoy....

this is a link to the CLOSED auction... faster than posting all the pic...

Might want to remove that auction link. Auction links will get you banned. See that big yellow banner at the top of the page?

I read the big yellow banner as "DO NOT POST ACTIVE OR UPCOMING AUCTION OR AD DETAILS
I do not believe a closed link to a sold item from over a month ago, from the company he purchaed his truck from applys to ACTIVE OR UPCOMING....

In the rules, we do tell you not to post links that are known to go dead in time.

ebay links do go dead in time.

Post the pictures, not the links. This keeps all the info on this site, and that keeps the thread useful indefinitely.
