Okay, I did several searches and I could not come up eith anything. Has anyone put a rearview mirror on their deuce? Have any PICs. I know there are military rearviews, but have not seen one in a deuce.
Steel Soldiers now has a few new forums, read more about it at: New Munitions Forums!
It's mounted to a small bracket and attached to the windshield with two screws. If I think about it I'll take a pic tomorrow.Does it just screw into a single hole or is there a bracket of some kind? I thought about just welding on a nut to the center windshield post, the just screw the mirror on.
The truck I had that had the mirror was a '53. Was it just something offered on the older trucks? My 1952 M35 came with the mirror. Both the GL-742 manual and the TM-8022 show them and talk about them. I have no idea when they stopped being offered.
With the small window hard top, the mirror is pretty useless unless the tail gate is down by the way. The newer hard tops or soft tops have bigger windows, so you might be able to see further than the back of the bed. I look at is as a converstion piece more than a driving aid.
You are right. On the one I had you really couldn't see much out of it. I only kept the mirror because it's kind of unusual and thought I might add it to my keeper as a conversation piece. How is the mirror really useful in a truck like this? You can't really see much unless it's very far behind you, and you can see it in the side mirrors then. I personally don't like them in a truck of any kind. I even took the one out of my Ramcharger because it is more of an annoyance than a driving aid and I don't need it for inspection.
