We must prepare us here for the next economy war. If Trump rise up importtaxes on germany industrieproducts will in return here the importtaxes also rise up on us products. That mean any part we need to import for our trucks will be more expensive

Unfortunately no progress on the chevy

First needed our daily Driver complete new Brake disks and pads. Front was done but rear needed still to exchange. It was the first time where i used our new diagnosis tool for the electric park brake.

It dont work like expected, Battery had not enough Power....

Just a week before was the Volvo in a professional shop for service and new timing belt (something what i want let in professional hands with a warranty on the job, i have no expierence on that engine). Service was done by the shop as the costs for disposit all fluids and the time i spent on the job is not worth the money what i can spare by doing myself.

More time for the Chevy ... was the intention.

The Battery is just 3 years old and was changed in a service job by a volvo shop. 250 Euro for an original Volvo Battery. And after 3 years and 100000 km it had only 60% Capacity.

We bought a new Varta Battery for the half prize. We had good expierence on that brand.

With the new Battery was the Disc change on the rear no more problem.

Than a new noise occur.

It was the Freewheel of the alternator and needed to be repair also. The beltbreakage was not without a longtime effects.

Some weeks ago we noticed on the chevy just a thin film on the steering knuckle and the tire on the right side.

We observe this since then.

It never dropped any fluid of.

We use a cover to see just little drops, it was just even a thin film but noticeable.

There was some notes about leaky rebuild calipers, so we open again the spot

all was dry

at the deepest point we could just find a little film at this wheel bolt.
No clue where the origin of this comes.

How ever we also find another problem in our build of the oil temp sensor

20250125_101938.jpg

To use there an adaper on the oilcoolerline is not enough space since we use now the shifting linkeage and not more the cable shifting.

A German tuning shop offer an oilfilteradapter where you can conncet sensor. Not an oilfilter adapter for connecting an addiational oilcooler. It is different build. But it has metric threads.

I will looking on the us car scene if there is something similar.
If anyone knows anything about it, any information is helpful

I have my second hand op today - it will set me back a bit, but after Trump's announcement of imposing 25% taxes on German goods, the restoration will be over anyway. We currently already have a 45% markup on the purchase price in the USA, another 25% increases the price by 70%. We can't bear that anymore either. The price of US cars will hit a low here because no one can pay for spare parts anymore. So the value of our trucks will be low with that. The same will then also apply to the USA. Anyone who drives a German car there will have to expect the same costs. A typical economic war... We'll see what the future brings. The Ukraine war has already cost us a lot. and all the refugees and asyl seekers continue to cost a lot of money. All of this is paid for by the taxes of the working population. Tax increases have already been announced. We also had a change of government.

import taxes for EU goods dont raise US parts prices for you. Lets see how EU answers for those (probably) raised taxes.

Praying for a speedy recovery! Yes, stuff is getting expensive for us as well. Hopefully, things will subside, and we can get back to "normal," whatever that is to us all, so we can continue our hobbies and friendships inland and overseas.

Our goverment will reply this acting from trump in the same wise and increase import taxes on any US goods here also in the same high.
But until now this are just statements from both sites.
We will see what happen in the future.

But Trump is not guilty for our other economy problems here like high energy costs which make production in Germany expensive, the increase in social taxes on any wage as the costs in healthcare increase every year, the costs for military or still the reunion costs with east germany where still is much to build up again.... just to list some of them...

My employer decrease employees from 1200 to less than 400 today....
I' m working in machine engineering. This was in the past with some up and down save. But today a lot of give up and close.

Also the IT, a long time a coming up business, lost now also a lot of companies.

I don't want to complain or politicize any further. Let us still have fun with sharing our projects.

Last week I ordered a few missing screws (i don't use any old rusty screws) and the washer fluid nozzles. I wanted to assemble the hood before the operation, but I was missing the small parts.

I'll stay positive and hope that the gaps fit everywhere...

Thanks, fortunately it was a small OP. Right hand was fast recovered so i think the left hand will also recover fast.
This year will be follow 2 other Hand Ops. All the years i delay this until it must be done.

The GMC Truck will be our retirement vehicle. I must confess i start to have problems to enter the small C30 with the lower sport suspension of my wife 😅 Nevertheless this car will stay with us. In our big cities is a small car more handy for parking anywhere. By the way standard park lots are here to small for Fullsize US Trucks.

The Chevy should not need any bigger investment. We can see the finish line in front of us.

For the GMC want we improvements on the drivetrain with costs estimated about 10000 Euro but he would run also in stock condition. Still i hope we can continue our projects.

Our retirement is 2028 🥳
