Rebuilding M35a2 Transfer Case Question

Hi All,
I am rebuilding the input shaft gear bearings on my m35a2 and just want to be sure i install them back correctly. When installing them do the bearing shields all face toward the back of the input shaft or do they face the inside of the gear?

Thanks,

Mitch

Wouldn't the shields be toward the outside, so the inside has oil getting to it? I've worked on my 817 but it may not be the same and it's been a long time. It sticks in my mind that the input and all three shafts are taper roller that have to have a preset and a separate seal, but it has been a long time and they may be different. Anyway, oil should be able to get to the bearing.
