I still cant believe this stuff happens at secured (supposedly) locations that hold much more sensitive/valuable items than these minor parts. I too would be extremely angry if something were to happen to my lot between inspection and pick-up no matter how small. aua

Those crooks deserve this: :deadhorse: Sorry for your theft problem. I get angry even though it hasnt happened to me. GL should reimburse for the missing items. If they cant patrol their storage yard, the least they can do is make good on the problem that was a result of their neglect. Hope things work out for you. This is another reason I wont buy from them.

I feel your pain, but: Lessons learned: 1. Get your initial EUC taken care of on something low value like a 105, that way when you win a truck, you can go get it fast before too much time goes by. 2. Unfortunate facts of life: Death, taxes, and equipment at DRMO yards will be forklift damaged and cannibalized. Always has been like that. :(

If this went to court, guess who would win? They have more money and bigger lawyers. Its not right but unfortunately thats what would happen. in my opinion. Dont buy from those turkeys. I know some of you men have purchased trucks for low bucks, but you were the lucky ones.2cents

This is not my first EUC and I still don't have approval to pick up my truck from a February sale.

So if it is your first or tenth EUC it doesn't seem to matter
it will get approved when it gets approved and not a moment sooner.

I think the consensus is that yes, that is the way it IS with GL. But that is not the way it SHOULD BE. Maybe if we all start doing something about it, we can bring about a change. Idea's?
Seems like they could check your truck on entry and on exit - just like the local Menards store. If its not on your invoice or brought in, it shouldn't be leaving in your truck. I had a couple of front shackles missing.

Given the cost of a recovery, GL should be held responsible for costs associated with
This is one where "you have to be careful what you wish for"! Anything G/L does to improve security is going to cost EVERY buyer
more money.
You remember how they fixed the problem with the SF97, now you have to buy them and have a LEO verify them.
Make a lot of trouble for them and it wouldn't be big deal for G/L to make vehicle sales "Dealer Only". Wayne

Seems to me that GL has some culpability in all this madness. If they post photographs of a piece of equipment in certain state then it should be delivered to the buyer/end user in such that fashion.

What I see is her is tantamount to false advertising on their part and should be held civilly liable. GL needs to take steps to safeguard auction wins during the EUC waiting period or at least offer some type of an escrow service to secure the equipment. Furthermore, they should apprehend and prosecute those who engage in this inexcusable cannibalism. I know what you all thinking, they are just going to thumb their noses at the whole thing.

I personally have not purchased from GL and this is one of the reasons why...among others. I guess I'll pay more for more peace of mind.

That's my 2cents.

My plan was to get a M105 trailer first, didn't work...EUC didn't go through, sale cancelled. I have since purchased a truck, been waiting a long time on that EUC to clear, it will probably be canceled too.

This past week I purchased the smallest thing I've seen requiring and EUC, M9 bayonets! Maybe they will clear that EUC quickly, and then my truck and in the future whatever else I buy.

But who knows! GL is just a poorly run business.

What if we got all the SS Members to boycott GL for a month or more. i wonder how much money they would loose in lower bids on items. As long as we are individuals we have no weight with them but as a large group we could possibly make a difference! UNITED WE STAND DIVIDED WE FALL!!!

Do that and you make the prices cheaper for the dealers and the non SS members.

The stuff is gonna sell, no matter if we boycott or not.

Yes but if it goes cheaper then GL looses money on each sale. We could alway contact some of the dealers we know and see if they would boycott with us.

Not all GL sites are lax, I went to the GL site here at FT Lewis (in uniform) after my win thinking I would just start my truck so it would not be dead at time of pick-up. They were having none of that idea. While they don't escort you around they do keep a eye out. At first I was offended and irritated that the guy in charge told me " It's not your truck yet" and when I told him that I paid for it he said "If you have a problem with it I will call the MP's" Later I have come to understand that they have had a problem too with theft and he is just trying to run a tight ship here at FT Lewis for which I am thankful.

I'm sorry to hear that you too had stuff stolen off a truck at Indiantown. About a year ago I had a bunch of engine parts stolen off a Deuce I won there.

The coincidence here is that I also had H&S Towing pick up my truck and store it until I could get there to pick it up.

I hate to say it, but GL is going to tell you there's nothing they can do for you. You appointed (hired) an agent, H&S Towing, to retrieve your vehicle. It was incumbent on H&S to make sure that the truck was in OK condition before they signed for the truck. Once they signed for it, GL is effectively relieved of any responsibility. That is exactly what GL told me when I contacted them about my missing items. I hate to agree with GL, but they are correct on this point.

The fact that stuff was missing from your truck SUCKS. I don't know what we can do to get the thefts to stop. I would agree that we, as buyers, should contact the base Commander and Law Enforcement of the bases EVERY TIME things get stolen.

Well when on a base trying to pick up our purchase and finding it deficient, what is the best course of action? How would we go about contacting the base MP's and Base Commander?
I imagine an MP would not be hard to find. Any phone on the base, dial "O" or whatever number is there. What would happen next? I don't know. If the item is GL's property till you take it, then they might not be able to do much on the spot, since it is not government property. But it would make a stink, and would have to be put in a report.

Where was this?
:ditto: How did you get the EUC submitted, sent to BC, returned, and an appointment made in one week? Did you preview the truck? There are several items on GL that get re-listed months after they were originally listed and they just use the same pics.

Honestly I really dont see anything being done without making GL even more of a headach to deal with and having them raise the Min. bid again to recover the cost they would incure to make their sites even more secure.

I would like to see them move Lots that have been sold to one area and no one but the winner or his appointed rep. get to visit that area with an escort but then your looking at either more cost to GL to move the equipment or even aother chance for them to get one last shot at it with the "Forklift" or more hassle to us that have won a lot and just want to go check it out while waiting for the paperwork to clear.
